Film karya sutradara Gore Verbinski 'Rango' dinobatkan sebagai Film Animasi Terbaik di ajang Annie Awards 2012. Film tersebut mengalahkan 'Kung Fu Panda 2', 'Puss in Boots', 'Cars 2', 'Rio', hingga 'Tintin'.

Annie Awards adalah ajang penghargaan bagi film animasi yang telah digelar sejak 1972. Pengumuman pemenang Annie Awards 2012 telah dilakukan di Los Angeles pada Minggu (6/2/2012) malam.

'Rango' juga memenangkan penghargaan Best Writing in a Feature Production, Best Editing, dan the Members Favorite Award. Namun film yang menggunakan suara Johnny Depp untuk karakter utamanya itu harus merelakan piala untuk kategori Best Directing kepada sutradara 'Kung Fu Panda 2' Jennifer Yuh Nelson.

Sementara itu, Bill Nighy memenangkan penghargaan Best Voice Acting untuk film Arthur Christmas, dan 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' membawa pulang piala kategori Character Animation in a Live Action Feature Production.
